Staircase is an intimate, early work, the original rendered in colored pencil on Arches cover paper, bearing the artist's own handwritten dedication — "For Drea, with love, Jessica, 2/5/83" — a tender inscription that speaks to the personal warmth and human connection at the heart of Jessica's artistic practice. All prints are on acide free paper.
Against a soft, warm ivory ground, a bold geometric staircase of deep navy and black descends from the upper right, its hard-edged angular forms grounding the composition with architectural weight and solidity. In striking contrast, the left side of the work erupts in a swirl of fluid, gestural energy — looping lines of crimson, teal, gold, and burgundy dance freely around a luminous wash of soft periwinkle blue, geometric triangular forms hovering like wings or shards of light caught mid-flight.
The tension between these two worlds — the rigid structure of the staircase and the liberated energy swirling beside it — is the soul of this piece. Inspired by a dream, it is a visual conversation between order and freedom, architecture and movement, the grounded and the airborne.
For the discerning collector, Staircase is a rare and special find — an early, personally dedicated work that offers an intimate glimpse into the artist's developing vision. Its modest scale makes it a perfect addition to a curated gallery wall, a private study, or a treasured personal collection.
Available as a signed, limited edition giclée print on acid free paper — just 50 pieces per size — in 9"×12", 14"×18.5", and 18"×24".
