Iridescent Improv B is the second in the Iridescent Improv series, and where its predecessor danced with layered complexity, this work commands attention through bold restraint. Against the same deep, velvety black, a single towering vertical form rises — evoking the angular, geometric structures of a remembered architecture, personal and deeply familiar, where hard lines and flowing curves exist in beautiful tension. This work is painted with iridecent watercolors on black Stonehenge watercolor paper.
A sweeping arc of rose and violet curves dramatically overhead, its broad brushstroke suggesting both a sail catching wind and a crescent moon in motion. Cascading oval marks trail down the vertical like notes falling off a staff, while sharp diagonal lines cut through the darkness with precision and intent. A cluster of crimson parallels hovers mid-composition — taut, like strings about to sound.
At the base, the energy of movement and music pools into a swirling vortex of cobalt blue, gold, teal, and pearl — a luminous, spinning core that grounds the entire piece. From this wellspring, sharp geometric shards and flowing curves radiate outward, as if the composition is simultaneously rising and taking root.
For the discerning collector, Iridescent Improv B brings dramatic vertical presence to any space — commanding above a console, between floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, or as a bold counterpoint to a minimalist interior. Its deep purples and blues settle beautifully into evening-toned rooms and sophisticated, curated spaces.
